Vijay Chadda
CEO, Air Pollution Action Group; former CEO, Bharti Foundation
After a distinguished career in the Indian Army, which he served from 1972 to 1992, Vijay Chadda transitioned to the corporate world, holding senior leadership positions in the logistics, travel and tourism industries. A graduate of the National Defence Academy and the Indian Military Academy, he held numerous prestigious command and staff assignments during his two decades in uniform.
He then moved to the development sector as Chief Executive Officer of Bharti Foundation from October 2008 to June 2019. Under his stewardship the Foundation’s school programme grew to 249 schools educating some 45,000 children across six states, with quality-support initiatives reaching close to 1,000 government schools across 17 states.
Since July 2019 he has been CEO of the Air Pollution Action Group (A-PAG), a philanthropic foundation he set up with Ashish Dhawan and Mohit Beotra to assist national and state governments in bringing down air-pollution levels in line with the National Clean Air Programme. He has also chaired the Managing Committee of Modern School, Barakhamba Road, New Delhi, since 2017.
