Service Career
Maj Gen DK Mehta was commissioned into The Rajputana Rifles in March 1972. He has seen active operations in J&K along the Line of Control, with tenures in Arunachal Pradesh. He has a chequered career of 37 years in uniform, encompassing command, staff and instructional appointments.
In command, he commanded an Infantry Battalion in J&K during the height of the insurgency phase — during which he was injured — an Infantry Brigade during Op Parakram, and a Mountain Division.
He has served on staff appointments at every headquarters from Battalion to Army HQ, and raised the first Information Warfare Cell in the Army as a pilot project. He has held instructional appointments at the premier training establishments of the Army — the Army War College and the Indian Military Academy.
