R. Gopinath Rao

R. Gopinath Rao, IEDS, is Deputy Director at the MSME Development Institute, Government of India. Holding a B.Tech in Textiles, he began his career with a decade in private-sector textile and garment companies, including Binny Limited (Bangalore), Syram’s Textile Mills (Mumbai), Gokaldas Images, Shahi Exports and Sunwear Knit Ltd.
In more than two decades with the MSME Development Institute he has served in Haryana and Punjab and in Shillong, Meghalaya, and trained in cluster development, export management, ZED schemes, advanced packaging, project appraisal and MSME marketing. He has organised over 200 training programmes and national and state-level development programmes for MSME units, and assisted more than 100 entrepreneurs with loans and market linkages.
An officer of the Indian Enterprise Development Service, he heads the Champions portal division, connecting small and medium enterprises with banks, state government departments, industrial associations, NGOs, testing laboratories and central government departments.
