Maj Gen Deepak Sapra
Major General (Retd), Indian Army — SM; former MD, Army Welfare Placement Organisation
Maj Gen Deepak Sapra, SM (Retd) is a decorated Indian Army officer whose career spanned over 37 years from 1978, during which he held almost all critical appointments of the armed forces, including service in counter-insurgency operations and contributions to military policy development. He holds a B.Sc (Agriculture) with Honours, an M.Sc from Madras University and two MPhil degrees, in Management and in Strategy.
A graduate of the Defence Services Staff College, he also completed the Higher Command course and is an alumnus of the National Defence College. He served as Senior Fellow on the faculty of the Centre for Strategic Studies and Simulation (CS3), the research and wargaming centre of the United Service Institution of India in New Delhi, and undertook a specialised training assignment with the Armed Forces of Seychelles.
After retirement he became Managing Director of the Army Welfare Placement Organisation, facilitating second careers for ex-servicemen across the corporate, PSU and industrial sectors, and he spoke on career transition at the NASSCOM HR Summit 2018.
