Former GOC-in-C, Western and Northern Commands, Indian Army; PVSM
Lt Gen Sanjiv Chachra, PVSM (Retd) is a strategic thinker and motivating leader, and perhaps the only Indian Army General to have commanded two frontline Armies — the strategic Western Command, guarding the Indo-Pak border, and the operational Northern Command — where he was instrumental in bringing peace and security to the turbulent borders with Pakistan and China. He led Western Command from June 2012 and took charge of Northern Command in July 2013, and served as Colonel of the Rajput Regiment.
Conferred the Param Vishisht Seva Medal by the President of India for outstanding leadership, his 45-year military and judicial career later included service as Member-Judge of the Armed Forces Tribunal, adjudicating servicemen’s cases with judicial wisdom and a humane approach. An arbitrator and motivational speaker on leadership, team-building and courage, he also volunteers with the Delhi Council for Child Welfare.
