Lt Gen Rakesh Loomba

Lieutenant General Rakesh Kumar Loomba, PVSM, AVSM, is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. Commissioned into Skinner’s Horse in June 1970, he is a veteran of the 1971 India-Pakistan War and served the Indian Army with distinction across a career spanning four decades.
He commanded a strategically important armoured brigade during Operation Vijay and later the Indian Army’s primary strike armoured division. As a Corps Commander in the North East, he provided strategic leadership in an intense counter-insurgency environment with jurisdiction over six states. In August 2009 he took over as Director General of Military Intelligence, his final appointment, and was decorated with the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and the Param Vishisht Seva Medal by the President of India.
Since retiring, General Loomba has remained engaged in strategic and business affairs. He serves as co-chair of the Indo-Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce and Industry and sits on the advisory board of the security company Premier Shield, bringing four decades of leadership experience in intelligence and national security to corporate audiences.
