India possesses one of the world’s largest youth populations. This youthful demographic offers a significant **demographic dividend**, the realization of this dividend is subject to the presence of appropriate enabling conditions.
A young population is not automatically a demographic dividend. It becomes a dividend only when a nation invests in education, skills, health, innovation and productive employment. Otherwise, the same youthful energy can become a source of unemployment, social unrest, and economic strain.
