India’s security industry is built on the shoulders of people who are paid very little to keep everyone else safe. The NISSMAT Foundation is being established to do something for them.
Currently being established as a Trust. We are setting the Foundation up now and are seeking founding supporters — organisations and individuals who want to be part of it from the beginning.
What it is for
The Foundation’s purpose is welfare and social work for society at large, with particular attention to the economically challenged in security, safety and applied technology — the guards, supervisors and frontline staff whose work is essential and whose circumstances are rarely considered.
Welfare
Support for security personnel and their families in hardship — illness, injury, or loss of a family earner.
Education
Helping the children of frontline security staff stay in education.
Skills and dignity
Training that improves earning power, and work that raises how the profession is regarded.
Why this institute
NISSMAT has convened India’s security leadership since 1990. The same faculty that debates policy in our sessions — senior police and military leadership, legal experts, industry heads — is well placed to direct support to where it will actually reach people, and to be held to account for it.
Be a founding supporter
If your organisation would support this work, or you would like to be kept informed as the Trust is established, please register your interest.
