Exclusive interview on BSF – Current Deployment Dilemma

The recent deployment of BSF in some states extending its area of deployment from the existing 15kms to 50kms has evoked strong reactions. The Central Government has stated that the aim is to check the nefarious activities of Terrorist elements and Narcotic smugglers by giving powers to BSF of preventive arrests, searches, and seizures in the area of extended jurisdiction. Is it in consonance with the Constitution of India which lays down Police & Public order as a State subject? Will, it does not create jurisdictional problems? Shall the Lack of Synergy between the two forces create some serious problems? This scintillating Interview discusses all the aspects.
